CN Kamal withdraws plea against Sindh govt

KARACHI: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal Tuesday withdrew the petition regarding reducing curtailing the powers filed against Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the Sindh High Court (SHC). The constitutional petition challenged orders of Sindh Chief Minister interfering in the affairs of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) regarding abolishment of CDGK’s powers of sale, auction and leasing of land.The application for withdrawal of the petition was filed by Dr Farogh Naseem who was representing Mustafa Kamal and five other town nazims in the case.Chief Justice SHC Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah offered to postpone the hearing to allow both parties to resume dialogue. However, Farogh Naseem requested that his petition be dropped as a goodwill gesture.Dr Farogh Naseem and Manzoor Ahmed told the bench comprising Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah that the negotiations process between the parties is in progress and goodwill gestures are being exhibited from both sides. To reinforce the process, CN Mustafa Kamal took back his petition.Mustafa Kamal's counsel however did say that the petition may be filed again if talks fail to resolve the current deadlock. LINK
