ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik Thursday said a good report regarding Pakistan Steel Mill surfaced on the media.

Talking to journalists after the meeting regarding anti-corruption, he said the corruption is more dangerous than the terrorism, as the corruption is eating into the country like a termite.

The minister said he government is working on emergency grounds to make Pakistan a corruption free country, adding a whole system of accountability is in place; but, nothing goes beyond reports.

Malik said it was decided the action would be taken up over the next reports, adding Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani directed the accountability of the PM house before anyone else.

He said the biggest problem previously was to file an FIR; now, the registration of FIR would be computerized, adding Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani soon will inaugurate the system.

The interior minister said the salaries of anti-corruption officials are being increased equal to those of Motorway Police, adding the appointments and transfers would be made transparent.

He said the people investigating into crimes would be trained, adding Anti-Corruption Agency has been decided to be made superior to the concerned law enforcement agencies.

The federal government will provide forensic laboratory to the provincial anti-corruption agencies, Malik said.

The leadership of the extremists has been uprooted, he added. LINK
