LAHORE: Former President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said he will deem himself as suspended from the membership of Lahore High Court from now on, Geo News reported Thursday.

Talking to Geo News, he said he took this step in protest against the manhandling of journalists at the hands of lawyers at LHC Bar premises.

He urged Justice (rtd) Nasira Iqbal to take steps in this regard, adding he is wring a letter to her in this connection.

Aitzaz said he is 40-year member of LHC bar and started his practice from this bar, adding he cannot jettison the LHC membership, as he will not be able to practice law if he does so; however, he will refrain from using the Bar facilities as token of protest of violent behavior of the lawyers.

He said the lawyers’ movement for the restoration of judiciary thrived mostly because of the journalists and cameramen, adding he is grieved on the unbecoming attitude of lawyers towards journalists who go around to perform their professional duties.LINK
