WASHINGTON: The vote count of annual elections of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA) was still pending over a dispute over the voters list.

The elections were completed in last week of May but the vote counting was postponed after a candidate raised the question over validity of the voters list.

APPNA sources have confirmed that several meeting of the Executive committee of APPNA were held in July but the issue remained unsolved rather the tensions among the rival groups have increased and it looked like as if the case would go to the court.

Meanwhile Doctor Saima Zafar, a candidate for the office of the Secretary General of APPNA told The News that she never accused her rival candidate Dr Nasir Qureshi of adding fake names to the voters list to win the elections. She said that it will not be appropriate for her to comment on the situation because the issue was pending before the APPNA Executive Committee but she believed that it was important to clarify the situation.

Dr. Nasir Qureshi, while talking to the News, also said that since the case was before the APPNA Executive Committee, he would not comment over it but no fake vote was added to ensure his victory in the election. He expressed the hope that APPNA top leadership would be successful in sorting out this issue of voters list. LINK
