LARHORE: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Wattoo Mondays pointed out that the production of Pakistan Steels Mills was affected by a technical fault developed in blast furnace due to usage of substandard raw material.

The Federal Minister said this while talking to reporters in Lahore.

On the other hand, PSM spokesman Shafi Haider told Geo News that substandard material has not been used and the blast furnace take raw material according to its design.

He said imported iron ore and coal are used at PSM and for a few months limited use of local iron ore is being made. It is mixed with the imported raw material, he said, adding so far 90,000 tonnes of iron ore has been used.

Shafi Haider denied any fault in the two blast furnaces and that they are working properly.LINK
